Neck (or submental) liposuction is a procedure that can help decrease the unwanted fat in the submental neck area. This can be performed under local anesthetic with medications to help the patient relax and also under general anesthesia. Good candidates for submental liposuction had extra fat in the neck under the jaw without much excess or overhanging neck skin. Compared to Kybella or “freezing” of the submental fat with CoolSculpting, we feel that liposuction of this area is a more effective method of treating the submental area. In addition, aesthetic goals are usually achieved with one treatment. Although there is post procedural bruising and swelling, pain is usually not a significant issue. This procedure may be combined with other facial aesthetic procedures as well.
